I've been chatting for some time with some of my 993 buddies about getting our unusually coloured 993's together. We always seem to get 1 or 2 at some event, but never all in same place at same time. There's not so many brightly coloured 993's so it sounded like great way to celebrate these fantastic cars.

One of these was Andy from 9WERKS podcasts, and he asked Lee Sibley (9WERKS founder and Total 911 editor) if he fancied doing a 993 feature. "Great idea!" he said.

So date was set for Aug at Caffeine & Machine. Logistics were tricky but by some miracle we all arrived from our various locations around UK & Canada, together with Lee, plus reviewer Kyle Fortune and photographer Steve Hall.

What a fantastic day! We had a great time with our cars & hanging out.

Total 911 edition 223 is out now for anyone that wants a read. Here is small selection of our non-professional photos to give flavour of the amazing day.

Lots of 993 love ❤️💛💙❤️

(Note: these are all modded 993's to various degrees, and that was the focus of the feature)

Hi Toby. Only just caught up with this strand, but good to see you on here. I’ve just started following you on IG, and as you probably know as you follow me at @motoreye , much of my Porsche life chimes in with yours as I’ve had a 993 (in what I thought was cool black - but now I’ve seen the light!) 996’s (C4S and now GT3) and it was the driving and subsequent acquisition of a 72 Tangerine 911T that recently did for my 356A - as I realised I had to have an early 911 and money and space meant something had to go!

Anyway, I always loved Mike’s car and it’s great to see 993’s transformed by these colours. And as far as I’m concerned, by all means talk as much as you like about 996’s on here. (There are of course, whisper it, a number of closet water cooled fans). Porsches are all about the driving experience and in their own very different way they’re just as magic as that 911T, and considerably cheaper. Hope to see you around at events etc..

Ah yes, love your IG photos Jeremy. Great to hear there's appreciation of all cars on here although naturally the old air cooled are the best!

I seem to be following a very similar path to you - new older acquisition coming soon :)

Yes it's a bit of a shame 90's and 00's buyers seemed to be very conservative in their colour preferences. Can't beat a bright or different colour, especially on an older car. Love the variety of early 911's.

Given your attention to detail, I’d e very interested in seeing your E and where you’re up to with the 996.

Love the 993 - a really great example

Thanks. I didn't think there'd be any interest in my 996 in these forums, although I have done a lot of work on it and it's got it's own story. Maybe one day I'll create a thread for it here.

I will share my story on the 911E as that's going to be more interesting to people here. It's having work done at the moment which will take some time, then I'll get something up.

You’d be surprised. There’s plenty of love for all things porsche. I’ve got a 356 ( classic ) with yellow wheels,( not so classic ) I like it, so you know, that’s all that counts. A resto thread on a 996 would be good to see and great to learn from.

All the best,

Joe

My 911T was cheaper than my 996... But when I drove through a deep puddle a little wave crashed inside the passenger compartment. Quite literally.

I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

It's been a very long time since I updated this thread. Lots has happened to my 993 since my last post, including more time at JAZ having gearbox out to fix some minor internal movement before it created any bigger problems. This was stripped and rebuilt. Lots of other bits and pieces have been done too.

However I've now made the very tough decision to sell this 993. It's been a battle of head vs heart. Basically family changes mean having two air-cooled cars isn't workable going forward. The 993 lives next to my '69 911 in storage, and ultimately I was more often taking keys to the '69 in the increasingly less time I have to drive these lovely cars.

It's a waste having this beautiful car sitting unused - and it's time to pass on to the next custodian to enjoy. So I've sold it to my trusted friends at Paragon where it will be up for sale shortly.

This is the end of this thread. It's been fun & I will miss you BLU 💙

Oh yes - I keep meaning to start a new one of the '69 when I get time. Meantime the longer I leave it, the more to write about it :)
