Old 911 tuning VHS tape

Post by deano »

I have an old early-911 tune-up VHS tape (PAL) that I acquired from the States many years ago. Its by Evergreen Video Productions of Grand Junction Colorado, who seem to be long gone. I was thinking that it might be possible to upload this to Youtube. I think I'm correct in saying that this is still protected by copyright laws, to the tune of at least 70 years from its production date (unknown), but I dont think there is anyone likely to complain and worse case scenario seems to be a request to remove it from Youtube...

That said, if anyone on here has the ability and motivation enough to convert my VHS tape to a Youtube video for our members to watch, please PM me... :cyclops:

I’ve got an old VHS machine in the loft. I’m willing to see what I can get out of it, but no promises. Never tried but am thinking play on VHS, record to DVD then rip DVD, or is there an easier way ?

I think the modern way to do it is take the RCA outputs (or SCART to RCA first if necessary), digitise using a dedicated RCA-to-USB video grabber (£30-40). I think this is how people convert their old family VHS recordings to .mp4. I don't even know whether it is worth the time and money. I think our VHS player was used as a post box by the kids - now that we have talked about it, I might see if I can get it to play, and see if it might be worth capturing digitally... I'm equally happy to post it to you if you're interested in finding out....

Good point - think I might have one in the loft, if I can find it. IIRC, I bought it to rip our old VHS tapes, but never quite got around to it.

Training Day Skippers to sail again this weekend, but I'll look next week.

I needed to convert some old tapes to this new fangled digital malarkey, so now have things sorted.

I'll message you Dean
