Not only that but it's been proven to live up to its performance expectations over 1000's hard-driven miles all over the UK & Europe !!

Whoever the next owner of this car is will be a very lucky person ...

Agreed Andy. Not what I wanted to see as this is one of my favourite DDK cars and I’ve spent many a fun mile behind the wheel and even more being chased by it. One of the best driving early 911s I have experienced with so many lovely details to appreciate.

My teaser wasn't the best thought out way of putting my car on the radar, it was random, out of the blue and has surprised a few friends. Sorry.

So to answer the messages I've had as to why, here's my thinking......for some time I've had a plan in my head to whittle things down, sell the cars and stash of parts and be left with one 'keep forever' car that can stay with me to my grave. Far easier for the people left behind if I'm ever hit by a bus!

Problem with this plan is that my final car would need to be another project and very specific to my wants, plus I get very attached to things and find it hard to let go! I also know that these things take far longer than expected, I'm still a couple of years away from finishing the current project and if I leave things too long my plan might never happen......with this in mind for some time I've been pondering about selling literally everything, all cars, engines, parts, even possibly the RS project, and force the issue. My teaser planned for Hedingham was putting my toe in the water, nothing more than that.

The reality is it's unlikely to happen. I don't need or really want to sell, I have no plans for the funds and I wouldn't sell unless I was getting fair value.

As to fair value I would base this on what it would cost if someone approached a specialist such as Tuthills and asked them to build a similar car. I won't be silly and no doubt I'd accept far less than what that quote might be, but if you understand what's gone into this car you'd get my thinking. Hopefully.

If someone comes along now that really wants the Mongrel I will, reluctantly, sell it......if not I'll wait for a time or opportunity when I need to move on and market forces will then dictate.

Fate will be the decider!

I have never even seen this car but what a pleasure it has been following the build and driving threads over the years on DDK. This has been enhanced by your utter dedication and enthusiasm to the build. I have learned a lot from your threads about so many details and I applaud you for sharing these for us all to benefit. The knowledge base has been expanded beyond measure because of you and your wonderful 911. Good luck for a satisfactory sale on both sides.

I wish I had seen it and heard it in the flesh……….

In all reality it's unlikely to be the last time, I don't follow the market but can't imagine it's particularly buoyant at the moment and doubt things move quickly.
Plus I'm not exactly putting it up for sale or placing any adverts, more a question of letting people know it's available and happy to have a conversation by email if anyone has a serious interest.

I don't envy you, Darren! As you know, I did almost exactly the same last year at Hedingham:

I kind of did, mostly did not, want to sell the RS rep at that point. So I printed up a single "offers invited" sheet not dissimilar, and stuck it on the dash.
I certainly didn't try very hard (my wife wonders if I actually "tried" at all), and it was good to receive genuine interest in the car, including a couple of tempting offers.
And in the end I wasn't committed enough to actually selling it, and I am lucky enough not to actually need to sell it at this time.

All to say: are you really committed? But are you though!? (The QR codes took an effort, so I think you are further along than I was haha)
