Went to the local Cars & Coffee, someone with some skills took a great picture of my car.

Does it have a thermostat and oil pipes that are only pressurised when up to temp? As I understand it, I've never had my 3.2 up to sufficient temp to heat the front oil cooler.neilbardsley wrote:Good 1/2 day of spannering. Jacked up the 914. Then the engine lid cable broke but you can get to the latch from the boot. Gave it a good clean underneath. Zero oil coming from the tuna car certainly some oil come from both sides near the rocker covers. Tried to start it but my solar panel hasn't been charging the battery. Charged. Topped up the gearbox oil. Noticed the easy access to the starter and will fit a relay.
Filled up with the correct amount of oil. Idled it for a while then had Mrs B run at higher revs. Like Mrs Hill Climber finally she is joining in. No sign of any oil. Checked the level and it was the same as before. Took out for a drive and got the engine hot and still no sign of oil! Scratching my head. However, I did notice the left carb) manifold/head leak I thought I had fitted was back. Took it all apart, cleaned and reassembled.
Covered and ready for some sleep.
On a positive note the 356 starter great and ran great to a comedy evening in Market Harborough. Came out of the evening to find someone photographing the car. Pretty common with these old beauties

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
Today I started the 911T - it fired straight up having stood for two or three months. Then I sat in it and revved it up a bit while turning the steering wheel bit and pressed the horn a couple of times.
I cut away some rusty centre tunnel. Drilled out some welds, put some seam sealer in joins I welded previously, drilled out some more spot welds, cut away part of the rear floor and cursed an over-zealous 1970s German spot welder.

Ha!
Not sure if this engine has compensated for the extra years...
"The older I am, the faster I was" comes to mind.
I guess it is keeping my head above water just about rather than going under.

That would explain the lone German registered 914 I saw heading east on the Oswestry to Shrewsbury section of the A5 yesterday morning

Hi Jameshot66 wrote:We’re you pleased with the upgrades ?
Yes, I am very pleased with the upgrades, which include shocks, struts, sway and torsion bars. The car feels much better balanced on the track, which provides the amateur driver (me) with more confidence to improve. Also, as confirmed by the two teens joining me in the car on the 800km round trip from Zurich to Circuit Auxois, it's not too stiff on the public roads.
Best, Marius

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
Cancelled the race event on Saturday at Prescott in the Lola due to my body hurting too much.
Fixed the interior boot carpet with Velcro patches to smarten things up.
Readied the old 911 to take us to spectate (all of checking the tyre pressures...) at Prescott!
Hope the Sat forecast is wrong.
