Cleaning Shiny Leather Steering Wheel

The leather steering wheel on my 993 is quite shiny and slippery. Can anyone recommend a product to remove the shine and get the leather back to how it was ?

I think you are supposed to use water & bog standard mild soap. However I’ve used the non scented gentle baby wipes in the past successfully to get all the dirt & gloss off and followed up with Autogleam Leather product.

Yes, soap and water if it’s just sweat and grime and what not.

If it’s polished (burnished?) through use a bit of light sanding can work a treat. 400 grit or finer. Start with a bit you can’t see. There are lots of vids on YouTube.

I've had good results from the 'magic sponges' you can pick up cheaply, then feeding the leather afterwards with AutoGlym leather care.

I used a damp Magic eraser too on shiney 996 wheel, don't go mad with pressure and couldn't believe the muck that it fetched out, just wipe clean using a microfibre and a good few coats of leather conditioner and it come pretty good.

I tried the magic eraser and it was ‘magic’ cleaned it up a treat.
