I tried to buy one of those some years ago ( 2007 ) " - for sale by a French banker who lived In London, brokered by an English dealer based in Geneva, stored at a dehumidified facility in the middle of a farm near Milton Keynes. The chap who looked after the car took me out in it, the fastest I've ever been in a car, as I remember about 168mph between roundabouts on the ring road. I offered the full asking price ( £188,000 ) and the dealer came back to me a few days later saying it had sold to "someone else". A few years later I found out the "someone else" was the dealer who'd bought it himself ! The more expensive the car , the bigger A. ****s you have to deal with !
F40 AUM - featured on the front of "Octane" magazine with a 959 a few months later.

It had just sold for £60K but I didn’t meet the new owner. It’s the company I bought my latest Boxster from whom seem to have all the hot ticket cars of the moment. http://Www.jksc.co.uk

Had a rental Merc GLC? GLA? (Some small 4 door estate thing) last weekAshley James wrote:It had just sold for £60K but I didn’t meet the new owner. It’s the company I bought my latest Boxster from whom seem to have all the hot ticket cars of the moment. http://Www.jksc.co.uk
Couldn’t find the gear stick. Turns out to have been an indicator stalk (wife looked it up on YouTube) which when I collected it was hidden behind a steering wheel spoke
Too easy to hit the speed limiter on the steering wheel
AirCon that sometimes blew hot on start up, sometimes cool. And the occasionally blew hot mid journey.
The “Lane assist” was really aggressive and every time I did a slow speed manoeuvre, it popped up with a plan view on the screen which warned me to pay attention to my surroundings
I hated it.

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
I’m surprised, I’ve had three Mercedes in recent years and they’ve been flawless as they have been for my kids and a couple of friends. All C and one E Class. They’re special and hold their prices better than the other Germans because they don’t do cut throat deals with lease companies.
I’ve been fascinated by the A45s because another friend likes them enough to exchange his 991 for one and prefer it, also because motor trade friends are raving about it. Interestingly, despite all the problems Mercedes have apparently had a record quarter. The latest range seems to have hit the spot, although not apparently with DDKers. I thought there’d be interest some very clever new technology.
Never mind, they’ll survive.
