Thanks Tim, your help in sourcing parts and trying to keep as much of the build aligned with how these cars were originally has been greatly appreciatedTimB wrote:Well done Mark, great result.

Hi Mark,
Like the blue car you built previously, this looks brilliant.
Hope you enjoy it soon.
Kind regards

Re: Silver hotrod
Engine in progress a couple of challenges resulting in a new set of cams and minor modification to the pistons. Dummy build complete, piston to valve clearance checked. So final build we'll on its way.

Looks great Mark, that car is very close to my ideal spec! Any more details on the engine going in?
The force is strong in this one ......
Re: Silver hotrod
It's not been plain sailing the engine build, but hopeful it's nearly there.yoda wrote:Looks great Mark, that car is very close to my ideal spec! Any more details on the engine going in?
Will post a full spec for the engine when it's finished. We think it should push out around 190bh, which for a a very light swb car will be more than enough

Re: Silver hotrod
Engine is now finished, the plan is to get it dyno'd and set up before we put it in the car. I have summarised the engine below for those of you who are interested. The plan was always to build an engine based on what may have been done back in period for those racing their cars on a weekend. I hope to do a few track days, but it will mainly be used for weekend blasts and road trips
Engine basis:- 2.0 1969 S
Bore and stroke:- 81mm bore 66mm stroke
Induction:-
1. Weber 40 IDA jetted to 911 S spec as a starting point.
2. Inlet manifold bored out to suit inlet ports on cylinder heads
3. ITG air filters
Exhaust:- SSI headers with Dansk twin outlet rear silencer
Cylinder heads:-
1. Stock 69 S heads with slightly bigger exhaust valves.
2. Heads fully reconditioned to include new valves, valve guides and new valve seats as required
3. Heads combustion chambers matched
Piston:- Wossner K9412D100 Modified to suit larger valve sizes
Con rods:- S rods balanced and re-sized
Crankshaft:- S crank re-ground and balanced
Oil pump:- 3.2 oil pump with oil bypass carried out to crankcase
Crankcase:-
1. Updated bearing to inner layshaft journal
2. Case machined and piston oil jets fitted
3. Case main journals shuffle pinned
4. Case machined for windage
5. Barrel faces re-faced
6. Timeserts fitted to head stud holes
7. Case line reamed to true up bearing journals
Compression ratio :- 10.24:1
Camshafts:-
1. GE40
2. Late timing chain idler arms fitted with pressure feed tensioners
3. Uprated R/H idler pin
Piston to valve clearance:- Inlet 2.6mm Exhaust 1.82mm
Timing chain alignment:- L/H 0.03mm R/H 0.03mm
Ignition system & electrics:- Bosch CDI ignition. 55 amp alternator
Cosmetics:-
1. Fan, inlet manifolds and top rocker covers blast cleaned, aged and the protected.
2. GRP race fiberglass to replace steel engine tinware
