A very strange road car. Might just make a viable proposition to put it back on the race track, but I bet it's completely shagged and been mucked about. Fun project though to do. Ideally you'd need to be able to weld to fix the inevitable chassis nightmares and (re-) build your own motor - new race pintos are hard to get for 3k!

Good for an entry at the Silverstone Classic though,

As a road car - definitely not a good idea!

Yes, just finding a Pinto will be tricky, one that can be rebuilt, accept that.

The tub of these cars are sheet aluminium alloy, glued and riveted, a steel tube back bulkhead with small tube extensions to hold the engine and box, rear suspension etc. At the very front, a small box section for the top of the front suspension and pedal box.

Road use will shatter the integrity of the tub. Suspension is all rose jointed, so no give anywhere...A good pot hole at 30mph will finish it off.

The base car is really nice on paper, the reality may be something else.

I shouldnt like this

But £50k...for a 72 based flatnose conversion that sounds properly done? Big assumption there of course....

Ok the surface it looks ok, you’d need a lot more than just those pictures though before parting with 50k.

If that vent in the centre has air coming out of it then it’s probably a later shell with a ‘72 identity.

No pictures of engine, luggage compartment or underneath. It’s not hard these days to take another 4 pics!

I don't think that's a '72.

Looks like another dodgy identity clone, ie transfering a 72 identity to an 84. One has to ask why that should come about and why was the 84 identity lost?

I was surprised it cost £175k all in. I was expecting that level of obsession to cost more!

To be fair, 175k is quite a lot of money. How much will it sell for ?
