True, there's a big difference between 68 and 78. But what sort of mileage and condition for an SC around 40k? I remember them being 10k and pretty much unloved.100702mark wrote:If you weren’t hell bent on moving away from Porsche, budget wise you could do a nice 911 Sc targa.

Andy, that's very nice indeed. I think I might need to go later though, budget and driving experience.
They have a lot going for them - especially compared to British offerings of the time:
- small capacity all aluminium dohc engine
- extremely powerful (& fade-free) brakes (large finned aluminium drums)
- great handling/road holding
- plus excellent spares availability ...

On the short list
Re: Heresy
You see this is what keeps me wondering about a change. They are some of the few cars that I feel are as good looking as a SWB 911/12.912Flyer wrote:Alfa Romeo Guilia 105 GT Junior with a 2.0 Twinspark Engine.
I'm building one at present but I would never sell my 912
The thought of 130bhp in a later model sounds fun although I recognise they are heavier than a 912.
Maybe I need to do some homework and test pilot a few.
Dr Wild is insisting I spend more time going out in the 12 before making any decisions. Perhaps if I address some of my perceived short comings in my car, I may feel more settled. Less magazine time more driving time...
Thanks to all for stellar suggestions. A great discussion. Matt
