914 brake Warning Light

Post by 914Chap »

Hi,

My 1973 USA spec 914 has a brake warning light, which at the moment is blinking. I currently have a switch in the master cylinder but not on the handbrake. Can anyone confirm when this light should operate? Does it just indicate brake failure dependant on the switch in the master cylinder or should it also indicate when the handbrake is also on?

At the moment the cable which was originally connected to the handbrake switch is unconnected. I have recently bled the brakes on my car as they have all been rebuilt, however, I am not convinced that I have been able to remove all the air as yet?

Any thoughts on this problem or just what this light should indicate would be helpful as the diagram in my Haynes manual is not easy to follow on this circuit.

Cheers Jonathan.

The light should blink to warn you that the handbrake is engaged.
