Re: French Loveliness....
Collected my new hood and interior this week and tried them on the car to check the colour. I wanted the appearance to be pretty neutral and think that works....
....a couple of days fettling, paint the grill, chrome sill trims and hub caps and we'll be ready for an MOT. Can't wait
Cheers,

Re: French Loveliness....
This photo has long been an inspiration and I did ponder on a black hood and, being the car is Porsche Light Ivory, a black/Pepita interior to mirror my 2.4E?.......would have been fun and fairly inexpensive to change if I ever decide to go that route.....

Re: French Loveliness....
...thanks Mike....not quite there yet and there's quite a bit I'd like to replace and improve on but overall I like how it's turned out......not bad for a £300 scrapper I bought for spares!210bhp wrote:Lovely looking restoration job indeed.

Early Citroens are a a wonderfully simple, satisfying restoration and cost pennies compared to Porsche stuff, I'd recommend anyone to have a go

Re: French Loveliness....
Looking good Darren. Needs a few accessories though, maybe a baguette out the sunroof?
The force is strong in this one ......

Re: French Loveliness....
This all comes across to me as a very easy-going roll along kind of restoration without the stress of originality, high cost and delays, all in your own control.
Congrats, it looks lovely and really a good way to get the best of 2020 and beyond for all the family.
Would love to do one myself, but space and a few other things are in the way.
Well done to you!

It's turned out lovely !
Not convinced about the interior choice though - & I'd change the headlamps to round ones if it was mine ...

Re: French Loveliness....
Thanks gentlemen, appreciate the kind comments
Cheers,
....I'm sure the Citroén world has many originality afficionados Graham although mostly with early vehicles I would think and this car was never one to be precious about......they are a wonderful project to take on and there's an abundance of really good specialist parts suppliers that make the journey a breeze.....with your talents though it'd be a two week project!911hillclimber wrote:This all comes across to me as a very easy-going roll along kind of restoration without the stress of originality, high cost and delays, all in your own control.
....I'll live with the interior for now Andy and like the neutral look of the car externally, I have a couple of ideas regarding the floor covering and bulkhead which I think will blend well......not as pretty but I actually like the rectangular headlamps and they define a period of the late 70's and very early 80's, plus they're a little different from the norm.Lightweight_911 wrote:.....Not convinced about the interior choice though - & I'd change the headlamps to round ones if it was mine ....

Re: French Loveliness....
We nearly bought a new 2CV Dolly in the late 70's but suddenly went for a new MG Midget.
What a mistake that was, crap car, built when everyone knew it was all closing down.
My boss's wife's husband also ran a Cit 2CV specialist place in the middle of Brum so rubbed shoulders with the mark.
All down to taste, but the car looks spot-on to me, as you say, honest to the time it was.
There is a nutty hillclimb version with a BMW engine, sound familiar?
I like the stark simplicity of the 2CV design let alone the novel engineering.
You can overtake anymore around where I live, so going with the flow is the normal pace, bet the car flows nicely.
Will you do another?
