I'm the new owner of the car, it will be in sunny Bedfordshire from now. Im curious as to what evidence is that it was actually a conversion and not a factory car? It was invoiced 20.4.65 it was shipped to AFN England on 30.5.65 and then shipped to Wahroonga, Australia 15.6.65. The bulkhead, all the fittings, dash etc all look absolutely as per other RHD SWB cars i've seen, there is zero evidence of it being tampered with. I won't discount that it was a very professional job however it arrived in UK in RHD already. It seems unlikely that it would have been converted in such short period of time by anyone bar factory, why would you go to anyone else as well?

This car has cropped up several times. From the Youtube video the dash is not the same as factory RHD cars - the layout of the dials, switches and badge are all different and the door armrests also suggest that it was a LHD car originally. I note the seats are 5 pleat but this must be a much later change.
This an extract from a past Williams Crawford's advertisement if it helps.
"A very early matching numbers 1965 911 2.0 SWB in right hand drive.
Rewind to 1965 to Fulda, central Germany, where Mr Michael B. Shirley, an Australian, was serving with the 14th Armored Cavalry Regiment. A visit to the local Porsche dealer secured him a new 911, chassis number 300882, in Signal red with a black leatherette interior, on 20th April 1965.
As an Australian in the services, when he returned home his 911 would have been worth triple what it was in Germany and he would have been blessed with no punitive taxes upon his return. Only one snag was to be solved, you needed right hand drive entering Australia. At the time of delivery not a handful of RHD had been built in the factory therefore Mr Shirley had to arrange his ‘new’ 911 to be changed to right hand drive steering at a German dealer. This solved the issue and allowed him to return home in early 1966 to New South Wales where the Porsche remained for almost its entire life until arrival here in Europe once more"
This says the car was imported to Australia early 1966 which is at variance to your understanding.
It is a unique car no doubt and looks in fine fettle. Something to be really proud of.

Agents be agents always have their own spin, based on easy information they can get. I got Kardex from DaveP for it. The earliest documentation from Australia is 66 but it was sent there in 65. However the important piece is that it was delivered to AFN in a month after factory invoice and it arrived as RHD. Seems illogical to take it to anyone else to convert other than factory. Bulkhead and cutouts for RHD look factory untouched with all indentations etc. That's what made me question where the work was done.

Absolutely, will take some detailed pics.
One thing I can reveal is that 11 years ago the car looked like this https://photos.app.goo.gl/8QLnu2wPMZEwCv3E8
It was actually "futuredated" to look like a 70s car with fiberglass arches, fuchs etc. The owner at the time undertook a detailed rebuild back to what it should be. So lots of clues that have been pointed out here are not really valid, the interior for example came from a '67 S. So door handles, position of gauges, seats etc. are irrelevant really. The "trapdoor" in the boot and the bulkhead arrangement looks factory to me, there is no way spotwelds like these would have been done by outside garage/contractor. Amazing thing of course is that original engine and gearbox and mechanical components survived intact. I will have to post a better introduction to the car on a separate thread. For majority of its life it has been owned by Hamilton family of Autohous Hamilton the paperwork/receipts for the car goes back to 1970s but 60s are missing. It has been round the clock twice but has done 27000 miles in the last 20 years. It's also know that it arrived in UK to AFN in RHD a month after original invoice. Lots of exciting research to be done and I'm itching to get some more period photos of it.

Not all Kardex stipulate RHD, mine doesn't.
Which brings me to another point on which I would like clarification. I have always understood that the first date top left (Ausgel am) was the completion date and the second (Abnahme-Besch) was the despatch date. However, from what I understand now, the first date is the despatch date and the second is the invoice date.
Which makes the completion date unknown unless you have special access to the works sheets.

I have not seen a KARDEX with any RHD note on early cars. If someone has it I'd be interested to see. Normally shipment to AFN denotes RHD.
