Seen as it starts with a 6, I'm looking for 605571.
Any closer?

What car is this for Cam? I’m looking for 74518 for my own car, a ‘59 A. The numbers are very close :)

To be honest guys..... rather than looking for a needle in the hay stack!! You could have a period perfect peice, and enjoy the car till the hay stack burns down and reveals the needle...

Just my opinion from a guy who likes driving what he builds....

Very true, I have an engine for my car.
It would just be nice to have the original....

Completely agree :) My ‘replacement’ engine has 1720cc so I’d probably still keep the original on the shelf if I ever found it.

It’s like having date matched wheels, the car doesn’t drive any differently with them, it’s just a satisfying box ticked knowing that you have the car closer to the way it left the factory. At the same time I’m running a Sebring exhaust, different seats, no bumpers, aircraft gauges, etc so that throws that theory out the window

You might be headlining at Glastonbury before you find the original engine for your cab :)

You're not wrong Neil, I'll also probably be dead as it's almost certainly been scrapped!

12/15 years ago Paul and I stood by a pile of Cases, Heads, Wheels and other mixed ephemera that Barry Curtis was scrapping and it just seemed crass to pick through it like a pair of vultures
It was all early stuff for which Barry had `no time` and as he was only building race engines, he considered it clutter
Yes! I should have just taken it all off his hands - but it was all melted
There was about 10 x engines and I often wonder what the numbers were
