Thank you, it is not one of your 'Richard' jobs, but I simply wanted a good strong paint coat on the car so I'm not bothered about it getting 'patina'd' so to speak.

All in all, not bad for £1500 all in.

Re-assembly started, the best bit I love. Can't aspire to Barry for body work, Richard for Paint or Gary for assembly, but I am very cheap! :)

I sent my V5 off about a month ago to have the taxation class on the C3 changed to 'Historic Vehicle'........the DVLA replied saying I had to tax it first.... so I went to the Post Office and taxed it :) ....

Image

.....no MOT, no engine, no box and not been on the road for three decades!......Madness really........apparently we all need to carry around a V112 if not having an MOT; so say the Post Office.......here's the small print.....

Image

.....which I think just about covers about every mod imaginable!

Happy days! :)

A grey day. A quick blast brightened things up.... but the top stayed on!

I’ve had a bit of tidy up and taken the doors off ready for the next stage - floors!

Easy.
Replacing the lot or side strips?
Got a plan of attack?
I found doing mine using diy side strips a very satisfying part of the re build.
Will keep you busy over Xmas. :)

I’m doing the whole floor. Rear sides are long gone and badly repaired already (by me) and the centre is full of dents and damage.

Plan is to turn it over and start cutting/drilling out spot welds, front half first, get it all self tapped together then do the back.

Going to pull the front suspension off this afternoon, then it really is a bare shell.

Wise moves imho.
I looked long and hard recently at my rear sides with my good-for-MoT welds and thought of cutting the rear 1/4 length ot right across.
Everything there is solid but ugly and today, will de-value the car when inspected.
I chickened out because I'm impatient but will regret it, but could still be done in a few years time.

I'll watch with interest. :)

^^ Everything in Norfolk is a anomaly, a micro climate all of it's own..... Bloody shite in Hampshire so just rolled it out from hibernation and run her up to temperature.
Being in the middle of nowhere winter here means the local roads turned to quagmires by the local farmers bless em!

First world problems......

Got up really early this morning to get to the PCGB Christmas meet happening at Bicester Heritage. My 911 is red and they wanted red cars for a particular display they wished to show. Unfortunately this meant getting up to Bicester by 8.30 am. We got there at 8.00 after a rather quick journey up the M25/M40. Aren't motorways a joy when they are deserted? We filled up the old bomber hanger with lines of red, silver, white and green Porsches. It did look good. Consumed lots of coffee and grub and by 10 the place was rammed. I have never seen so many Porsches, parked every where outside, there must have been an easy thousand cars. OK a lot were late models but that amount of cars is impressive. I am sure there will be pics in the magazines, here is a couple of my crappy efforts.
