356 prices at Bonhams Olympia

Post by jeremyg »

I thought these prices were interesting.

Image

This RHD 62 B Super 90 AFN supplied looks like it’ll need pretty full restoration. Sale price £69k inc.premium. Original logbook and interior but “in poor condition”, no mention of matching numbers.

This LHD 61 B 1600 matching numbers, fully restored was second in class at the PCGB Dana Point Concours in 2015. Comes with full history file and recent PR services service. Sale price £80.5k

I know which one I’d have. Am I missing something, apart from the appetite for RHD’s, which luckily I don’t share. ?

I’ll bet it’d cost over £80k to restore the Super 90. Would it be worth more done?

I don’t think so Ashley. Maybe it was the barn find effect again.

RHD Super 90 is a rare thing (if it still has it's engine).
Not worth the combined purchase price and restoration cost though.

Sounds quite expensive for a B normal too, although it will be a nice thing to drive.

I read that the Super 90 was a one owner vehicle with 3000 miles on it. How true that is I don't know but if correct would go some way to justify the price it fetched.

Bonhams blurb actually says 3 owners, and “ a total of 3302 miles is displayed on the odometer” - so I reckon that’s gone round the block at least once! As they say in the Registry auction reports - “well sold”.

Doesn't really matter how many miles it's done if the car needs a full resto......
