Thinking about dates for the Flat 4 Drive this year?

Post by neilbardsley »

How does the Sun 16 Sep sound (or another date around there)? Are we crashing with anything? I was trying to aim for something post school holidays so roads a little quieter.

Taking some feedback from last time I'm thinking of tweaking the format a little. I think we will have just one drive and a cafe stop at the end. I hope this will mean that more can make it. My highly analytical brain tells me that there should be a 50% less chance of getting lost but, if I'm leading, the probability of getting lost is still > 75%!

This year we would like to introduce an optional hotel stay with an evening meal. Maybe this might make it more partner friendly? However, I don't want to make it costly so we are always happy to see anybody for any portion of the event/drive.

Location probably in the Northamptonshire/Oxfordshire/Cotswold area again.

Hundred of farm gates will be added to the route as requested by Sean :)

Perfect date for us Neil. And it would be great to all meet up the night before at a hotel. Much better for all of us who travel some way to get there. Should encourage more to come along too.

Come and join us Mike. Some have driven from Yorkshire during the last two! We will say nice things about your Prill engine!

I quite fancy joining you, it's been a while since we had a drive out and i'm not sure if we've ever visited the Cotswolds.

I'll look out my red trews. :)

Date looks fine to me

Cotswolds sounds good!
Overnight stay in a hotel is a fabulous idea, (we did that exact thing two years ago, remember when we all followed Marcus at the first roundabout)

Kopp Hillclimb is on the 15th-16th September... I was planning on going to that. As it's both days of the weekend, maybe do the flat 4 drive on one day, and Kopp Hill the next?

Sorry I missed this post originally!

16th September sounds good to me and Cotswolds would be wonderful I think as well.

I promise to try and avoid causing problems if I possibly can!

Hi Neil

The PCGB Speed Championship is at Shelsley Walsh that Sunday. No flat 4s running, but a mix of cars and a beautiful spot on a sunny day with a huge field for spectator parking where you could all park together, plus always some interesting machinery in the programme. A bit further afield than planned, but would be great to see you if you were interested

Cheers

That is a great idea. We could finish up at Shelsley Walsh. What time does the action start? Let me speak to the faithful.
