Great contrast of the fresh GP White against the in-need-of-sweeping paint booth!
Was this the car that appeared in Brian Classic's print ads a couple of years ago? John in CT/USA

Paint shop ready to paint the car over Easter so still busy in my garage preparing other bits and pieces. I'd been putting off the headlamps for no real reason so did them tonight, This is one a SB 19 20 21 US spec unit now fitted with NOS Marchal 7" lamps to be fitted with H4 bulbs. Lamp holder is neat in that it allows for LHD or RHD fitment....

Here we go.... Final final sanding and preparation before painting tomorrow - lets hope it looks good after this amount of time and effort...... Also note that you can quite clearly see the crayon marking for the 307556 VIN number on the upper dash panel.

....that's interesting, I didn't know it was previously the chassis number written on the dash......anyone know when they moved over to writing on the production number?

Instructions followed.......just the red and blue stripes to be painted next week followed by flat down and lacquer - I'm not really a fan of silver myself, but it was/is the orignal colour, guess that's a decsion a future owner will have to make?

Brilliant choice to stick with the red and blue on white.

Indeed, it is your car for now, not the next owners.
It will look a real treat!

Thanks guys, I've been in two minds for ages trying to decide silver or white with stripes. The deciding factor was that to do it in silver I would have insisted on taking the car down to bare metal, something I never wanted to do. Also if in silver I'd have been tempted to restore to original spec, again not what I want or what the car deserves. The car is a survivor car, not many left, and again IMO in these cars their history, and showing their history is far more important that any better-than-new restoration. I seriously can't wait to get started into the re-fit and getting the car on the road.

Brave but correct choice I think. I’m sure it will make you smile more in its period race livery than in boring old silver!

Guys flatting down the paint with 1000 grit in preparation for the red and blue stripes then final coat of lacquer. A quick note on the paint. There was no real "match" to the original paint in fact more than one colour came up when we put the "magic eye" on it. We settled for a modern Porsche colour as recommended by the Glasurit paint rep supplying us. Colour is a 2K Sand White - slightly darker in my opinion than the period ivory white but must say very nice, very close to the original and doesn't look modern to me - very happy chap at the mo.....
