Re: 1973 911 E RHD - Gemini Blue
Minor update, after much debate and assistance from Mike (210HP) I have managed to settle on the paint type and colour of Gemini Blue. Various card have been sprayed out and Mike was kind enough to act as a go between to an original car allowing for samples to be compared against a original panel.
I stopped into my restorer today to pass on the good news and discuss the next stage, its that long since I have look at the car / build that I need to refresh myself on stonechip lines and coverage, seam seals and internal paint finishes. I really don't want to make any mistakes and try and be as true to the original look as possible.
Snapped some pictures while I was in. My won car has a blue undercoat but was stunned by the lovely 356 they have in at the moment. I will be stopping in next week late one night to take some proper pictures.
Can't wait to see it in paint.

Tom, I'm nearly a month behind on replying about the parcel shelf but here is what PET states.
There are different part numbers listed for parcel shelves or back wall lining as it is known.
901 555 075 22 for up to 71, 901 555 075 00 for 72 and 901 55 075 02 for 73 (and a different part in 73 if you had loudspeakers). Each of them state 'indicate colour'. The carrera 2.7 has its own part number 901 555 725 01 and states perlon velour black.
It implies that there were at least factory standard colours other than black. Whether the customer ordering the car could choose the colour of the parcel shelf or if the factory determined it from their seat fabric / colour choice maybe someone else could say. It at least seems plausible that blue is a valid colour for the rear parcel shelf however all except the carrera 2.7 will use the same material.
Hope that helps in making your choice.
Regards
Graeme

... and my hard copies of my photies went with the car when it was sold ... self and wife are 99.8% sure it was blue ... as per one of your earlier photies. Have been meaning to examine negatives which I kept .... but world is paved with good intentions !!
Go for blue !!

Now that the colour match is sorted the car is getting prepped. The first task which is probably overkill is a gloss coat inside to rub down and check the finish then its into full paint.
I know this isnt the colour but its still lovely to see a colour on the shell.

You can't beat seeing a fresh painted shell. Looking forward to seeing more pics.
Re: 1973 911 E RHD - Gemini Blue
The day finally arrived a few weeks ago, seems really random but the painting of the car is not to any timescale and will likely sit for some time before I begin the build. I don’t have the time or the funds to push on at the moment. Love the idea of a nice comfortable garage and time on my side to follow manuals and post lots of question on here but I have neither.
Loving the colour now it is finally in paint. My painter is loving this and has now hand sanded the last coat. I know the look will be unlike the original finish in that the paint will be completely flat with no hint of orange peel. I debated this but have opted for shinny and glass like.
The above are all striaght off the spray gun then he has sanded it all back.
