Re: An American Road Trip.... a little Porsche content as we
Sorry if I've overdone the rusty Americana, I'll cut it short now and finish off with a few more Porsche pics.
I couldn't leave Phoenix without going to see my old friend Gib Bosworth, the older members here will remember him from the Martini car thread. Gib's a real Porsche
nut, one of the original RGruppe guy's who's as anal as me about detail and into his early reps. His Toad Hall ST is fantastic, so much so that the Swiss owner of the
original car got in touch and Gib helped with a lot of the fine detail for the car for when it was shown on the Porsche stand at Techno Essen.
The engine's out at the moment so standing high at the back.

But I really wanted to take the drive out to the ranch to see his latest project, his take on the 3.0RS. What I hadn't realised was the 3.0 RS cars used ST/RSR arches,
and it's the shape of these wing extensions that has turned Gib and I on in the past. They'd completely passed me by on the 74 car, and seeing them now on a 'long
hood' they really looked the part. Red Porsche's have never really done it for me, but this is in a different league, with the one year only Carrera script in gold with
the black edge it really looks the part.

Gib's twin plugged the 3.0 motor and given it the small fan treatment whereas the original is pretty much a bored out 73RS motor. But it's the wheels that grab your
attention, Harvey Weidman has worked his magic with his RSR anodised finish, the originals where polished, but combined with the gold paint to the centers which
Harvey hadn't done before, they look fabulous! Gib's a great one for finding obscure stuff from all over the world, and for this car he came across a pair of 74 Recaro
Rallye II seats in Eastern Europe, they're perfect.

Hope you've enjoyed the pictures, I'll finish off with another of Gib a man who lives and breathes these cars, a real Porsche enthusiast.

Don't worry Graham nothing to take pictures of in next place, no roads let alone cars....911hillclimber wrote:Great travel log Mike, where are you off to next!
Only about 1200-1300 miles Mike, we were taking it easy. You don't have to go so far though for great mountain roads!210bhp wrote:What was your total mileage?
