Being somewhat older and therefore technically challenged, i am struggling to make the Flickr work for me.

I have miraculously set up an account, started an album, finally managed to work out how to stop the world and his dog having access to the photos and now want to post onto a thread.

Can one of the younger generation please list the steps i need to take to find the URL and copy it into the thread.

And dont start by saying click on the photo and then either click on the dots, click on the chain or any click on any other stuff. I dont have dots, i dont have chains.

I tried the help on flickr forum and it is the least helpful help ever.

So help!

What operating system are you using - Windows ? If so, which version (Windows 10, XP, etc) ?

I'm not one of the 'young uns' (unfortunately) but have been using Flickr for the past ~ 12+ yrs ...

Ok....

Click on Flickr link to get Flickr homepage up on screen.

Hover over 'You', top left hand in black bar.

Move cursor down and click on 'photostream'. This gives you your own personal library of photos.

Ciick on picture you want to post.

Click on white arrow on black background, lower right screen.

Click 'BBCode' to give a line of code highlighted in box below.

Light two finger click on blue highlighted code and then one finger click copy.

Move to DDk reply to topic page on another tab.

Light 2 finger click on DDk reply field, then one finger click paste.

This gives you a line of code in the DDK reply box that looks like this.

.... well almost like that, I had to change it a little bit or it would have come out as a picture.

Anyway, hope this helps, It seems a bit long winded but really it's not.

G'night.

When you copy and paste the link in flickr, you need to make sure you delete everything either side of the [img] tags. It's a bit of a faf but works okay. Also make sure you select a sensible image size. I just posted a thread on another forum for my land rover and had to go back and change the image links as they were all massive!!

Technical question - if I go back over my posts and upload photos, can the only go at the end of each post?

If I use a hosting service, is Flickr the one to use? Or are there any other recommended ones?

If you click on the 'edit' button (bottom right of a post) you will be able to replace the redundant code for your Photobucket image with the new (eg Flickr) image code.

A few days ago I contacted tinypics help team, that is hard in itself, but just had a reply to my question if the uploading issue had anything to do with the Windows 10 forced upgrade a few days earlier.
Tiny said several of their users have the same issue and they are working on it...

I'm now using postimage.org, which is brilliant. However the web address is in fact postimages.org...

You can resize images to suit everything from an avatar to the original size, and even set it to delete the images after a given period of time. And it's free.

Photobucket seem to be in a death spiral. I presume everyone else who has an account is getting ridiculous offers to buy crap from them. It smacks of desperation to raise cash, in addition to the ridiculous $400 fee demand.

The latest top quality offer i have received is to buy from them a king kong branded picnic cooler. If i wanted one, which i dont, i would have gone to kingkongkooler.com or something like that, not an internet picture hosting site.......

Yes I think they're trying to raise some funds before it folds
