Reusable silicone valve gaskets - interested?

I came across this company via a US Porsche forum: http://www.realgaskets.com/files/automobile.htm

They are doing a set of reusable 911 silicon valve gaskets for $20.

Appbiz is the only other company I know that do them and they charge $59 http://www.appbiz.com/index.php?cPath=2 ... a7f46d7d81.

Maybe we should do a group buy? Anyone else interested?

I've got some of the rocker gaskets already through a mini group buy

, but would be interested in the sump set.

Looks like you may need to buy two of these (one above and below the strainer) - can anyone confirm?

I think these are too late for my 911 but I'd be interested in the VW T4 gaskets.

Hot66: I see, so there's a north vs south thing going on is there?

Did you get hit for VAT and an admin fee? The only real benefit of doing a group buy is that we share one admin fee and pay our own VAT (if necessary).

I'm going to call the supplier in the US today before I decide what to do.

Anyone else for a set? Last call!

I believe I was the one who posted the note in the US forum on the manufacturing source for these being RealGaskets and the lower prices available when ordering direct. I purchased a set directly some time ago but was doing some other engine work, so just got around to putting them on this weekend. I can confirm now what I had heard from a couple of other people - that they fit great and seal very well, but the stud holes in them are just the tiniest bit small. I don't know if this was intended, since they are made by a maker of aircraft gaskets and tolerances may be tighter, or perhaps it is a preferred method when the material is silicone for a tighter seal. Or maybe they were just cut a bit small. We're talking maybe 1/32 of an inch here, but to get an absolute perfect fit I took mine and enlarged them ever so slightly with a gasket punch. So don't be surprised if you encounter this at install time - otherwise I can recommend them as a greatly improved product over what has been available before.
