Listen to him, and do the underside of the floorpan while you're at it!

Possibly 3M underseal 08800. So-called because it comes in ... a bag.

A long overdue update.

Very excited to finally see some top coats of paint applied to the shell. The brief to the painter was to seam seal to the minimum, wipe in, wipe out to give that clean look i am looking for.













Several attempts have been made to choose a Black that has the right sheen. Very happy with the final choice. I chose to fully paint the Black inside the cabin as the paper thin lightweight carpet is very transparent and we don't want the Yellow glaring through the carpet.

No sound deadening in this one....!































The undercoat. There is much evidence on the the factory undercoats used on the Yellows and the period safety colours. White was chosen to get the Yellow to sing.















The Yellow: I had already decided the final coat would be paint code 117 Light yellow . Finding a suitable shade and formula was another matter. After much research and spray outs, i asked my painter to paint inside the front trunk with the nominated Yellow to confirm i was happy with my choice. Thanks to Philip and Darren on the paint choice journey.
























That just about brings the paintwork upto date. Hope to get the shell back home in the near future.



Although i have 99% of the parts in place to build this car, one detail was yet to be implemented.
Research and a magazine article on the original Gaban ST confirmed that the car used 4mm plexiglas windows. I had always planned to use plexi for all the side windows but wanted them to have the correct logo markings.








Fellow DDK member Chris Jury had trodden the path previously and had produced a heat stamp and the Artwork file.
With file borrowed, i gave fellow DDK'r Kirk the task of finding a way to laser etch the logo onto the glass.
Sample looks as good as it gets. Big thanks To Chris Jury and Kirk for making this bit happen.

More exciting news was the prompt from the engine builder to travel to his premises with all parts so the assembly of the engine could commence. Getting there.....slowly.

I've been itching to see the car in paint and have to say it doesn't disappoint......the shell is looking absolutely stunning!
