Great new thread on Pelican, worth a look

Post by jjeffries »

Chris Nielsen, whom many will recognize from time spent on Pelican's site and magazine features in the 911 specialist press, has put up a new thread called "Switzerland 1967 911S Restoration" or something like that. It's in the main 911 Forum. Worth a peak; what I'd call a "DDK worthy" project.

Also, when will we receive an update from Ferry's 993 project? That's a fascinating job...now that these last-gen aircooled cars are 20+ years old, very cool to see one getting the Dog's Balls treatment. To which I might add, I hope some 964's receive the same and quit all being turned into Backdates and teeth-rattling faux race cars.

I'm digging ALL the projects posted here, from "Full On Barry Jobs" to the more humble efforts and concur with the encouragement offered to first timers and true DIY-ers. Also I'm disgusted by the way in which a couple of the current-project posters have received amateur-ish, incomplete and/or indifferent service from shops of whom we'd all expect better. For some shop owners, a little positive press and a steady stream of checkbook restorers, who never question their invoices, can lead to swelled heads and diluted ethics....the flip side to the popularity and "monetization" of our passion/hobby. I certainly think it's quite proper to name names, as long as a reasonably sober and fair presentation of the facts has been made, and the shop having first been given ample opportunity to right their wrongs.

Thanks and kindest regards to all, John in Connecticut (82 SC Coupe and 74 Alfa GTV....they seem to go together?)
