Makes me homesick. Love the west coast but Derry and Donegal are my favourite bits, but then I'm an Ulsterman. Fantastic pictures Andy. Need to start planning my next DDK trip!

Yes, great shots Andy. It looks a fantastic trip and thanks for posting both the pics and your thoughts/recommendations.
I've only been to Ireland once and I was based around the Killarney area where the accommodation (self catering) the restaurants but above all the people were unbelievable. I have one of the funniest 'true story moments' still in my head from Tralee even though it was about 15 years ago. Still chuckling this morning.........

Also have many amusing memories linked to this trip ...

We were travelling down the coast road in Co. Clare & stopped off in Kilkee to stretch our legs & grab a coffee. I stopped a man walking towards the car & asked if he was a local & if the 'Pay & Display' parking bays were enforced. "Am I a local ? This is my f*cking pub you're stood outside!! Is that you f*cking car there ? It's f*cking lovely!!

It's about midday & he's already several sheets to the wind.

"Stay there a minute" he says & goes in side whereupon we hear some shouting ... "Get the f*ck out here & have a look at this motor you f*cking daft old c*nt" he shouts & then re-appears dragging an old guy who's grinning from ear to ear proudly displaying his one & only (blackened) tooth. By the look of him he's still in the pub after a heavy session the night before.

"That's a f*cking old Porsche isn't it? F*cking lovely!"

Turns out he owns the local garage & has been a mechanic his whole life since leaving school at 14 - & he still has 60 yrs worth of oil & grease ingrained in his hands to prove it.

They invite us inside where we were introduced to the landlord's wife & a few other 'characters' who looked as if they'd been sitting at the bar on the same stools drinking continually for the past 30 yrs ...

The tiny pub was a time capsule - every square inch of walls/ceiling was covered in old photos/memorabilia & I don't think the place had been cleaned or dusted in living memory !

The next 2 hrs were filled with some hilarious stories - I haven't laughed so much for years - at a vital point in one of the stories a 'youngish' (regular) customer came into the pub but was told to "f*ck off & come back later" ...

We eventually had to leave but were only allowed to go after promising to call in again on our way back - we were both laughing for the rest of the day (& more) ... priceless.

I ran a PC Ireland run up the Antrim Coast using the Coast Road and various Circuit of Ireland classic stages. So if anyone wants to use that to get them to the start of the WAW get in touch.

The roads are fine enough on on both the WAW and CoI runs modern Porsches of all types were able to cope, like all minor roads there are narrow points but in most places apart from the Ring of Kerry (Killarney) you probably won't see much traffic outside the summer months.

I take your point, I should have said Eire...........
I have been to NI a few times but don't cut me down for my lack Irish history. Brendan has been trying to give me a crash course on the origins of the Isle of Ireland and it's sooooo complicated. The last lesson was on 'Ulster' which I think I got my head around.

The bottom line is that it's all a very friendly place.
