Re: New steering wheel
The batwing is from an earlier wheel. That steering wheel should have a 'butterfly' horn pad or, as you say, a hockey puck. The early batwing 'wings' don't follow the spokes of the wheel and just doesn't work. That batwing looks like a repro as well so I would swop for a hockey puck if you can.

Re: New steering wheel
To be accurate your car , which is a 67(?) 912, wouldn't have had that wheel and a hockey puck anyway.

Yeah I take your point on the wings not matching the spokes of the wheel, but I have seen the batwing on 67 and 68 cars in Johnson's restorers guide?210bhp wrote:The batwing is from an earlier wheel. Re: New steering wheel
Thanks for your advice Mike, I'll try it on the car tomorrow but I think I'll end swapping it out for the hockey puck now.210bhp wrote:Correct, but not on a steering wheel like that.gooders wrote:Yeah I take your point on the wings not matching the spokes of the wheel, but I have seen the batwing on 67 and 68 cars in Johnson's restorers guide?210bhp wrote:The batwing is from an earlier wheel. Re: New steering wheel
Mike, what are the two diameters of the larger and smaller wheel?
Can you say what year they changed?
Thanks very much.
