80's Targas

Post by 101sinbad »

I've been toying with the idea of an 80's Targa to play out my inner Miami Vice fetish.
I'm going to sell my Roadster in the spring so I'd like something to play with until I decide if I can afford an early 911 further down the line.

What's the general consensus on these;

Avoid the Massey Ferguson - you've got one tractor already!

3.2 is a nicer drive and looks in better condition..........

Targa's rock! No scuttle shake jokes please. I am no expert, but are the wheels 6's and 9's? If yes, I don't think that was ever a standard combination option. FWIW, top seems to be sitting high at the front, although not great pictures. But don't forget with these cars, Targa's rock!! Burgundy interior, especially pinstripe velour, is the new tartan. Go have a look. Go on, you know you want to.

Hopefully this won't trigger a 915 v G50 debate.

Good luck with the search.

it's really funny........how I never looked at a tractor in my life until I bought the Standard.....but I now regularly look on ebay late on a Saturday night for another one :)

Get a 1974 2.7 whilst you still can. Narrow body, 6 x15"'s and still carrying the chrome trim. No scuttle shake and really nice to drive.

thanks Kevin,

it certainly has an appeal.......might need to get my 80's mojo on to really enjoy it. Maybe i can get a matching 3 piece suit in the pin stripe velour and grow some extra chest hair
