914 Itch...now scratched!!

Post by ThreeTwo »

It seems to be that time of life when I scratch a few itches...if you know what I mean... I have always wanted a Land Rover and finally bought one a few months ago. Now seriously looking at 914s. Drummerboytom will tell you I have been banging on about a 914 and 'seriously looking' for the last 15 years!!

Please would you guys be kind enough as to give me your thoughts on this car
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1973-Porsche- ... true&rt=nc

(hope link works...I shouldn't really be allowed to use a computer!!)

Also it says that a load of work was carried out by Black Forest Racing http://www.blackforestracing.com/
Does anyone know about these boys??

Currently own a lovely '86 3.2 but looking at earlier cars. When I finally get one look forward to spending more time at DDK

Cheers
Paul

I looks very nice form the pics!

great colour (I'm biased as mine is the same) and if its had a rebuilt engine, even better.

I'm with you... I may have the opportunity to buy a long sought after C3 but am thinking of getting a 14 instead. Being a lot cheaper helps!

Some overspray on the hood springs...

These cars are still cheap in the U.S. so you might find better for less cash.

I bought mine 3 months ago. Although the drivetrain is electric, I had an option to buy the car minus the engine for roughly the same as the shipping cost! It has zero rot, no damage or repairs and just needs a flat and top coat as the paint has faded.

It's certainly not as 'perfect' as they claim. I saw it last summer at the Capel Classic car show with a for sale sign. Don't get me wrong, it presents quite well but isn't the best value 914 around.

Thanks for replies so far. Difficult to decide whether to buy a good car here in the UK meaning paying top money or buy a good car from the states that is better value but got expense of flying out to view / risk of buying blind or buy a project and get stuck in....

I'll keep looking.

It will probably take me a week to work out how to post pics...maybe I will find an idiots guide somewhere

As you will see from my post count I am not much a forum user!! Feel a bit bad really signing up all those years ago and never getting involved - hope to change that with the 'new' Porsche

Paul - hi! I'm just down the road in Harborne - would be good to meet up. LMR on this forum too I think is in your direction although his 914 is undergoing restoration at the moment. Seems to be a number of us in the Midlands now though. I'm hoping the weather stays dry tomorrow so I can go out for a bit of a drive.
