Re: 356 Replica gauges
Maybe buy a set of original Porsche 911 gauges and get them refurbished/ back dated at Reap Automotive. Better quality. Julian might be able to offer some advice if you give him a call.

Re: 356 Replica gauges
Chesil's ones always used to be (and I presume they still are) made by Caerbont Automotive Instruments in Swansea (who also trade as speedy cables on the cable / repair side)...

Re: 356 Replica gauges
Hi
VDO make replicas now available from Sierra Madre amongst others, they have a GPS speedo which can save a lot of drive problems.

Re: 356 Replica gauges
The Sierra Madre gauges look ok, and at £415 plus £35 shipping most reasonable. I guess there will be import tax to go on.

Re: 356 Replica gauges
Apart from the size the Vintage ones aren't so bad...
The quality actually is very good. There's only a slight problem with the rev-gauge; due to a strange interne (Chinese?) connection that one can stop working suddenly. The repair is pretty simple and cheap and then these gauges are pretty idiot proof.

Re: 356 Replica gauges
Looks like the rep gauges have well improved
got mine from same place 6 or 7 years ago & not as good
ask them for discount I got 10%
also sometimes thay have discount promos aswell ,try & buy all bits at one time to save on shipping ! as for tax this company puts one of the invoices on show so you dont pay on full cost
always had great service from Sierra Madre

Re: 356 Replica gauges
I got a full set of VDO replica gauges from Gary at the Speedster Clinic. Came with the various sensors to match the units. The speedo is the GPS one and has a digital mileometer. There are a few subtle differences looks wise when compared with the originals but as I'm building a replica which will openly deviate from the original in places, I'm happy to accept the modern 'touches' and digital/electronic mechanics rather than the originals. Quality appears to be pretty good, but I'm yet to fit or connect to the loom.
Happy to post pics of people are interested (will be a week or so as I'm away from the garage at the moment)?
