WOW !! amazed that you have a pic of my car at west coast classics. Got any more? This car was used in one of their ads I can tell it's mine by the spoiler and the boot rollers were knackered, the boot sat about half an inch up in the air and the colour is quite unusual.I got £500 discount because it was green!! I bought the car before the cars arrived from the photo's they had of the 13 914's they had bought in California The reason it was taken off the road was that i was changing the altenator and got carried away. I worked here & abroad so time was short, got divorced and moved house twice so it was put on the back burner. So now's the time for the rebuild (think i've got all the bits). Whatever happened to west coast classics? Nice guys. Regards Matt

Harald Volkmann used to be involved also, I think. Was it also known as Beetle Swap Shop? I used to be into Trekkers. Harald used to drive around in 914s he was selling and some were in Derbyshire whilst he was in Darlington. It was the first time Id really taken notice of them. I visited the Derbyshire garage, also in 1990 to look at some Trekkers Harald had. Harald moved onto importing brand new cars from Europe instead of the 914's and ex military Beetles and Trekkers. Not sure what the situation was at Beetle Swap Shop/West Coast Classics.

i remember that name, i remember that they had a marine blue demo 914 which i drove. I first came across west coast classics at vw action and decided i had to have a 914 then. It took 6 long weeks on the boat from California and during that 6 weeks i had my daily driver golf GTi pinched from outside my house so needed the 914 to get about. I got done for speeding in the first week i had the 914, not the best start for my 914 ownership. Changing the subject, has anyone got a discount code for the NEC classic motor show?

Hi - sorry for the late reply, yep that was me - hope you've been enjoying the books! Giving my car (KAU914N) a light resto - its back to its original colour of L31 Red while the engine and gearbox are out awaiting rebuild. How is your car going? Have you still got the Boxter?

Hello Mid-Mad, we got another Boxster last march, silver 2.7 & sold the blue one to a neighbour. 914 is close to having respray in original colour and engine rebuild/upgrade to 2.0. Just waiting on one more quote and will then commit and try to get it on the road this summer. I have bought a plate for the car SIA 914, i've got it on an Alfa GTV until the 914's finished, so you may see me driving about in that. I,m looking for a couple of early bumpers if you know of any. Did you get a Boxster? By the way thanks for introducing me to DDK.

Indeed LMR! have you got the 914 yet? I believe you were hoping to get it last Thursday? Would love to pop over and see it when you have a free moment?
