Looking fantastic Darren - seems a shame to cover up those chequer sound pads though ...

Funnily it did cross my mind Andy....the pads are made from a bitumen type material and I wondered if I could find something similar fill the joins.....the felt does look good though.

Mike, will report back on the micro paper grade.

Took the 2.4E out for a good drive today and went Christmas shopping.....

....already on that Andy, a quick clean followed by a little saddle dressing and it's looking quite sweet.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was one of your old wheels?.....once passed through Edmond Harris, and spent a brief period fitted to a 906 I understand!.....

....may sound a little fanciful but there's no point in letting the facts get in the way of a good story!

What grade of paper was used in that final rub down please?

Hi Mike,

As with this car, when applying a solid (2-pack) final coat a 500 grade is used as this provides a slightly courser key (still feels glassy smooth).....if the final coat was a metallic this would then be an 800 grade.

Thanks for your reply Darren. I appreciate it. I know nothing about painting (a car) so all these snippets of information are valuable (for me). Very helpful you popped in the bit about metallics. You must know something.
