Re: 2.2s Targa rebuild
Most of the umming was down to cost....I'm really conscious of that tbh. But I figure they'll be on for a few years and am telling myself that it's ok when you spread the cost over 4-5 years.....and frankly as Pete said on Sladey's thread about spoiling the ship for a ha'porth of tar and all that, it feels like if I'm going to do it, might as well do it right....so looking forward to finishing it and then this bank account hemorrhage that's happened over the last two years or so can finally come to an end....jb wrote:They look lovely and I am sure they will be brilliant just like the rest of the car but they seem really expensive. I do not remember them being that much in the day
They look great Rich. They are the real deal and I am jealous!
Just got door pockets and rear grill to buy now. Then finally I think we're done.
Til I start on the search for a toolkit that is

....and a great choice too.murph2309 wrote:Made my tyre choice.
Not only do they look soooo right, they grip, ride and feel glorious.......not sure how they'll cope with that whippy Targa chassis though!
Car is looking immense Rich, up there with the very best.
Great stuff.

My mum always told me not to skimp on rubber
Guess this is what she meant

Re: 2.2s Targa rebuild
So in the grand scheme of the other threads with sun gear diff thingies and cambox re-build races against time, this is a bit of a lame update....but I now have wheels and rubber together for the first time - I'm liking and really pleased with the choice....and they even 'blacked' the balancing weights behind the wheel so they can't be seen easily through the holes. Nice touch.

Interior now mostly done, should be back @ Canford for final fit and fettle early next week. Picking it up the week after. Getting close now.....

I know how you feel Richard....I'm reluctant to post anything because it all seems trivial compared to the Herculean efforts Mark's going through!murph2309 wrote:this is a bit of a lame update.....
That said, nothing lame about your post and always good seeing just how awesome Harvey W's work is (wish mine were that sharp) and those tyres were definitely the right choice.
You must be getting so excited now!

Those wheels look cool - nice tyres
The simple things you see are all complicated
I look pretty young but I'm just backdated yeah

Nothing like a shiny set of wheels
The place that fitted the tyres to my refurbed wheels also used black weights on the inside of the rims without being asked, it's those little things that make you return to a garage.

Re: 2.2s Targa rebuild
I like the look Richard. My tyre man lines up the A of Avon with the valve on each fitting which shows he cares about his work too.
You must be getting a tad excited now! Nearly there.

Mike

Re: 2.2s Targa rebuild
Coming together now.....carpets are in, dash is in, engine oil lines flushed through and engine working all OK...going for MOT on Monday....
And then I got this through this morning......a teaser shot and with caveats:
1) Bonnet not gapped
2) Horn Grill needs tweaking
3) Scoops only loosely on
But.....look at this.....
Ready?
