Well, in light of the impressive progress Sladey is making on his car I think I should try and update the modest achievements we've managed on the Carrera.

I had asked Nick to cool his heels for a while and yet now - as a contrary customer is perfectly able to do - I've told him to pull his finger out and get back underway.
So, with a weary sigh the guys at Early911 have returned to my restoration. Thanks Nick.

I had a little hold up on some headliner fabric but all is good now and the final section is glued in place:

So, the sunroof panel can now be fitted.

We are working toward getting the glass in and the dashtop has now been fitted.
Ignore the fit of the speaker grille, it's not yet in place (in fact it fits superbly well once clipped down).
I don't bother with a radio so the speaker will be deleted and something fashioned to seal the aperture under the grille.
I'll also use a blanking plate to fill the vacant lower dash.

One other aperture was noticeable empty and that was the cigar lighter. Not sure where that disappeared to over the last 40 years.
Anyway, obviously it was essential that was replaced (for those occasions when you reach into the glove box for a Cohiba Esplendidos) and it was an easy purchase from Porsche.
