insurance valuation cock up

Post by Ren »

Hi All, well I know a thing is only worth what someone will pay for it but….. looking on line (evil bay) I see a replica coupe is now 39,500 and my insurance co has recently valued my original RHD 356 at 38,500. Opps…. so if mine is stolen or written off I can't even afford a replica?

That can't be right so I am now chasing them to correct this.

Original cars online appear to be going for 40-50k and up.

So I am hoping they sort this out asap.

Worth keeping an eye on them insurance monkeys.

I see your point, the eBay coupe replica is well over priced though, probably realistically only worth half that.

if that… I personally would rather have a nice original early 50's bug for that kind of money (half the coupe)

Either way, if your B is in good shape, £38,500 is probably too low. You'd struggle to find a decent RHD B for that price and restoring one can easily set you back £40-70k….

Phil, the car was featured in Porsche Post March last year. You might have seen it if your a member of that club.
