There have been a few comments on this thread regarding drilling the tube to fit to the Clark stand. I'm a bit worried about weakening the tube. Will it be ok to drill to make it similar to the adaptor that comes with the Clark stand?

f it helps, I drilled mine for the index pin (10mm dia), and no probs at all.

Engines are 3.2's, so a lardy weight!

If you want the yoke drilled,l can do that nobother,l found when l was building aircooled engines(VW) l only used 2 positions,engine sitting vertical and horizontal and l didnt need to lock the yoke in place as the weight of the engine stopped it moving.

I think it is when you are pulling on fasteners etc the head can rotate.
I only needed horizontal and 90 degrees so two holes.

You need to be able to lock it in position when undoing (& then tightening) the cam nuts for example.

Yes indeed, those are the ones where you need to 'balance' the wrench rotation and the engine position on the stand...wear Toe-tector boots!

Actually, a hole at 60 deg is good too, esp doing this tedious task, but i did the cam nut on the bottom at this angle so the stand would not topple. so much easier on a 3.2!
