I love the new pressing he's fabricated at the front, adds a feature to the flat area and brings back in a bit of strength….I'm told they're still incredibly rigid, even before the skin was added. At some point I'll weigh the new door against a standard one and see how much we've saved.
…..Oh, and the gaps and lines are (of course) as we've come to take for granted from the Metal Meister…

Cheers,
Darren

Very nice indeed - virtually making a door from scratch!
How many hours would a door take?

Now that is really cool...it looks factory and so racey. I kept my doors complete including the later side impact bars in the interest of safety, but they are damn heavy. Even so I got my car down to 930 kg wet be interesting to see what you weigh in at when its done. Love it.

Re: Mongrel Street Racer
You're right there Ralph, it was a case of rebuilding the whole inner frame as the original pressings are so close to the frame edge……..and I thought it was a case of just cutting out the middle and bending the edges!Ralph wrote:Very nice indeed - virtually making a door from scratch!

I appreciate all the feedback guys…..Barry certainly takes an idea and raises it a notch or two…...or 100!
Cheers,
Darren

Re: Mongrel Street Racer
Looking good, it takes hours making specific parts so I can relate to how much work they take. In
case it helps you can buy door skins from Porsche without the mirror holes and additional metal support thus no need to weld them up.

Re: Mongrel Street Racer
In 1988 I bought some Dansk door skins as my doors were well knackered, all the bottom needed replacing. The skins were an awful shape and profile one side needed 1/8" welding wire leading to the door end...
I was told they were the first skins in the country, certainly were the first off the tools....
Are the Porsche skins from Dansk like many other 'factory' panels?
As to Barry's doors: as you expect from the Master.
