How the Day went!

Post by k9handler »

Started off the day with a 0700 wake-up (7 am for you non-military types) to head north, destination the Nurburgring. The weather forcast is not so good but I decide that it’s worth the trip since the ring is open all day for the next three days. I meet up in Kaiserslautern with another Pelican member named John (bascobites) and his wife Lin. John’s 993 is in the shop so he is forced to take his Mustang GT instead, I told him not to worry as 911’s are a dime-a-dozen at the ring while his Mustang is not.

Basically I determined that I would attempt one lap to see how my old tires would hold up in the VERY WET conditions. The track as many of you know is very difficult in dry weather so I was not going to push my luck today.

I did manage to make it around without incident but hydroplaning your way around is not fun! So I parked the car and became a passenger/spectator for the remainder of the day.

Lin went for a ride in the Viper! She was pretty excited after the fact and I am sure she should be. At the time she went the track was closed due to the weather, so the only vehicles making their way around was the Viper and the two BMW Ring Taxis.
