Re: 75 S to R Homage
Right nuts done ...so spent an hour doing a few bits of nonsense...
Firstly thanks Jury ...this worked really well I think..

Well officer I don't know of a law about 2 tax discs..

Alan uk top quality parts from Canford Classiscs as usual...

I'll need to think about placing the alternator warning and firing order since my stand off clips are in the way.

Andy - looking good but ...
- there's something not quite right about that 'retro' tax disc - issued 5th Aug '69 but expired end of Aug '69 ... shouldn't the expiry date have been July '70 ?

The car looks great Andy - are you getting more confident with the way it drives ?

Re: 75 S to R Homage
Hi Andy, good question..yes I am the performance now feels a little more normal, a result of familiarity no doubt. I still don't find the need to keep it pinned above 4500 rpm though its so torquey. I need to revisit the chassis set up now its properly settled. I'm not totally confident with it on b roads and at speed it feels quite nervous. Another thing I need some expert input to is setting up the bias box although it stops damn well with a typical race car pedal feel I want to be sure it won't bite me if I really need to stop quick on the roads, having said that I've obviously leaned on the brakes and the lock up is predictable and balanced on flat surfaces. Its a right hoot when it does come together though even the much maligned 915 is fine as long as you don't rush it and know how to double declutch.
Bout time we saw a bit more of the 904....?

That 131 Abarth is gorgeous. Amazing how "three boxes on wheels" styling can look so good if done properly. What was the event Andy?haasad wrote:Here's a few camera snaps of the r car finally being used.
Good to see some dead flies on the front of the 911 - people can be too precious about their cars...

Re: 75 S to R Homage
Hi Chris that was at Lake Yard Club in Hamworthy, they do a little show once a year notionally for members but I know they would welcome some more cars , perhaps a little local run ? The food at the club is ace as are the surroundings. For me , loving old Whalers, its an ideal day out since Dorset Lake Shipyard are the uk importer. Trouble is if its sunny its a nice place to hang out with a pint.....
Sladey I'll give them a call but fear it may be too far away for me,
PS no flies now since its Kingston Lacy House tommorrow and me and the boy might pop up..weather allowing.

Car looks great out and about Andy, and good to hear that you are getting used to it. One day my car will be photographed next to it, maybe on a French campsite
Love that 131, I remember when I was a kid seeing a white one driving around town.....liked it back then

Re: 75 S to R Homage
Hi Chris 2, that would make a nice picture ...as you say maybe in France. The 131 belongs to someone local and is totally mint having had a very comprehensive rebuild. It sounds mint on 40's and the group 4 wheels really look the part. He has another but doesn't want to restore it at present since doing so will make this one "less rare".
I've checked where Centre Gravity is and its too far to be practicable, I'll sort something out with Tim or Alan they both know what they are doing and are close as is TT Motors who prep some serious race machinery ...no rush.
