Really? I didn't know that.
So, I went back and checked my 1974 UK price list, it says"models for the British Market are fitted with the following factory options as standard equipment: M651 Electric Window Winders (not available on Targa models)".

So, you're quite correct. There must be a technical reason I guess?

I think the technical reason is that as the Targa is the more driver focussed car Porsche wanted to keep weight to a minimum

Originally the carpets would have been Blue/Black too.
By which I mean black with just the merest hint of blue about it.
It's no longer made and as it was only fitted for two years ('74 &'75) and looks largely identical to black, I can't see anyone tooling up to reproduce it anytime soon.

The '76 Carrera 2.7 also had blue/black midnight carpets...the blue just is more subtle but if you look at the individual fibers you will see blue ones mixed in. The '76 Carrera 2.7 carpet is much more rough, however, than the earlier Carrera carpet.

The seats look fantastic...kudos on being a bit creative with influences from other period Porsche. I always thought it strange that Porsche didn't at least do the rear seat centers when there was front seat inlays.

Perhaps like Paul I am addicted to shopping for specific items but I can't help but envy that feeling of starting with "junk" and ending up with something "right"

What was the dashboard like?

A dashtop for a RHD early 911 is a difficult thing to find.
In later years the IB cars had a different dashtop (with the centre vents) but the 1974 cars share the same type as used on the longhoods.

It’s only very recently that the RHD versions have been remanufactured and they are very expensive (approx £1,500?).
And whilst the new reproductions are excellent it’s nice to be able to retain the real deal.
So it was quite a relief to discover my car came complete with dashtop.

It was dusty but looked promising.

Now we all know dashtops can suffer over the years (especially in sunnier climes).
They very often dry out, shrink and split and can be left disfigured with unsightly scars.
But not mine.
Boy, what a good one it is, just like new.

I will confidently say it is one of the best I’ve ever seen.
No splits, no dents, no marks at all. Very nice.

I also binned a set of H1 lamps early in my 911 ownership. Before DDK obviously!
