Cobber356 has a set, in the for sale section or follow the link.

Might need to check if tachometer is electric or mechanical, also if 6v or 12volt

The best gauges are available from North Hollywood Speedo ...

Thanks guys
Priced a set of replica gauges from Hollywood Speedo and it works out cheaper from them than the UK by about £50 and they modify them for reliability (chinese jobbies) but they just don't look right unfortunately.

Re: Replica gauges for the 356
Anyone got any more info about this. I have one green digin speedometer but looking for option to tho tach and gas in same green digit. The speedo is a original -56 one.
What gages did 53-54's originally have? Seen so many different dashes over the internet.
Here's mine at the moment... concidering to rework the center for pod and clock too.

If only tach, speedo and the small one to the left. Should the small one be tankmeter or what? Should the tach be to the right and speedo in the center?

Pre-a gauges are different from later A ones, but to untrained eye A versions are close enough :d Picture of the pre a speedo for comparision is shown below.

Originally '53 did not have round fuel gauge, '54 was the first year with it.
1953 dash

1954 (actually '55) dash

Pre a gauges are more often (at least it seems like it) referred to be Veigel brand than VDO.

Aki

Re: Replica gauges for the 356
Thank. I'm aware about the differences between pre-a vs. A. The thing is that I've had this 56 speedo for very long and was planning on getting some use for it in this car. Even though it would not be correct for the pre-a body...
Due to Finnish laws and regulations requiring certain percentige remaining from the original car, the 1302S VW I could claim that it is the "original speedo" as the layout is pretty similar exept the speedrange....

Re: Replica gauges for the 356
Then I believe both Palo Alto Speedometer and Sierra Madre versions work just fine. North Hollywood and PA could provide mech vs. electric version as well as one with Carrera layout.
