The quality of these re-builds is sky - high now, what are mere mortals supposed to do?

Just look at that side view and the door gap!!

The colour of this car is wonderful and looks amazing in all different lights. In the sun it's just dazzling…




Wow.......just wow!!!! I'm loving this colour and the quality of this paint job is immense (I particularly like the shot in the sun above)!

And that's not all - the gaps are actually about a quarter mil too tight at the back edge....but when you press down on the back of the car, the body flexes it into shape....so when engine and gearbox are in they should be truly perfect....

Final stages of detailing and paint - thought you might like to see the 'blacking-up' although obviously not in a dodgy minstrels kind of a way....





I particularly like the dashboard...sad I know, but there's really good blow-through on the passenger side, it looks exactly like it did....





And finished off with some handpainting. As per factory....not sure I approve of choice of phone though.







Great job all round....should be a couple of photos with all bumpers etc hung in next couple of days....can't wait.

He is - and he's going to be recreating the build number in yellow crayon too - I think it's right that he does that - he's been in charge of QC on this too...

And deserves his place in the history of this car.

I'm also going to ask a certain Mr B Carter to add his autograph on there too before the dashtop goes in place...

If the weight of the drive train 'corrects' the door gap what happens when you fly over a hump-backed bridge and 'land'

Yes they are...especially with the roof off. That's why even though it was scorching when we were ar Spa I went round with the roof on, adds so much stiffness to the chassis.

But the joy of cruising in a chilled way without the roof is just super cool.

For those who like a targa anyway....

I dropped in to see Darren and the Green Goddess today and even in the greyness of Swindon in Feb...it looks fabulous!

Top class job from everyone and it'll no doubt look stunning when completed. It'll probably go well too

Are Targa's really that flexible?

And not just Targa's….if you ever set the gaps when a car is on a spit you're in for a bit of shock when you get it back on its wheels….ask me how I know!!!

If you study the photos you'll see the variance Richard is talking about is minuscule to say the least, maybe just a little fine tuning once it's back on it's suspension/wheels, door frames in, engine/gearbox re-fitted etc.

Overall it's not turned out too shabby

Sorry for the OT but how do the gaps react once engine and wheels are on?

Does the weight of the engine stretch out the gap of the B-post - door? How about the door/sill gap?
