Hi again,

OK I've heard back again from Dean. As said before the funeral will be strictly family. There may however be a memorial service later in the year - I'll let you know if and when I hear about it.

The family would like any donations to be made to Nottingham Samaritans - it would be nice to indicate that it's from Ian's friends on DDK.

I thought about everyone donating to me and me doing one donation on behalf of us all, but getting the money to me would involve some of it going to paypal and if we're doing giftaid you should all benefit. So I think it's better if each each donate individually. I've not idea if anyone sees this but if we all put the same message in the 'Donation Comment' box then the messages should stand out and hopefully let anyone looking see that Ian is truly missed.

I would suggest we put
"From Ian Smith's mates at DDK - rest in peace Ian"

Or something else you think is more appropriate. As long as you get Ian Smith and DDK in there that would be great.

Something someone said at last weekends trip to Oulton brought him to mind . Only ever met Ian a handful of times usually on DDK weekends away . Always enthusiastic, full of fun and a pleasure to be around . Fond memories .. think this was Nurburgring '11 .

Ian pops up in my memories a lot. Probably because I changed my online poker username to ims101 after his passing in his honour. I'm sure he's still laughing with me when we give someone a bad beat

I often wonder if I could have done more in the week up to his death but his issues were very very personal and he made his decision very quickly with almost no hints anything was wrong. I still wished he'd picked up the phone, he had so many friends who would have supported him. Life can be very shite at times and incredibly dark and painful but if you ever feel like that you're not alone, as Bob Hoskins used to say.....it's good to talk.
