I got a lift into Joplin in a pickup truck driven by the most awesome redneck imaginable, after my little Honda crapped-out outside his house (an falling-down general store alongside 66) about 20 miles east.

I remember him warning me that the place was a total shithole, and he wasn't wrong. Lots of weirdos scavenging crap out of bins, etc.

I rinsed the Honda's rusty fuel tank out in the sink in a Motel 8 and left the room so thick with fumes, I was genuinely concerned about operating the light switch.

About a year later, this happened: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Joplin_tornado

How did the place look when you were there?

You had me laughing there..... I trying not to describe it as a total shithole..... The first motel I pulled up to - well, the people started coming out of their rooms, & hanging out just staring at me, wearing string vests & smoking rollups. I did a slow drive round the carpark, & carried on down the road. It weirded me out slightly..... It was a bit like watching the vultures circling

Haha :)

Given the low post count & strange post, I thought Mr Easy was a spambot.
... And then I read his profile.

Good job, there's plenty more to come from the J-Low Library....

Neil Bainbridge has already started a catologue for the engine build....
