I found that quite funny!
Sorry.
The mod is to stop starvation of the main jets from fuel moving away from the base of the float chambers. Also he details a lot on venturi diameters/carb size.
I'm not too sure just how critical the sizing actually is.

My 3.2 runs 50mm PMO with 36 venturies, way too be but runs fine now, (or rather did..)

My beef is with a specialist, some very poor basic machining work and the resulting after sales service, but it is behind me now, sorted things out myself, usually the best way.

I am not a fan of specialists unless I really have to use them due to special equipment or my ignorance.

Just remembered I should have bought the DTI gauge back from work.....

One day you will all get as old as me.

Just a little progress since I had to wait for plating and my billet for the oil pump cover is not ready

Made a little fixture to bore the insulator washers.A job for the little lathe.




Fitted the inlet and exhaust studs and checked header fit.




Got to wrap the headers before fitting but that's all straight forward.

Is that an Emcomat 7 you are using, Ive had mine for a good few years and its been a great little machine, the milling head is useful to but finding spare parts for them is hard.

Just out of interest, why are you wrapping the headers ?

Keith, yes it is ..good spot. Its a nice little machine the tool post was a bit poor but thats fixed now. I've not had to buy any spares so have no experience of that. I also have a larger machine ( installed at my dads), that being a harrison 400.

Andy, Im wrapping them to help with efficiency and keep heat soak down. The headers are very close to the lower rocker boxes. I've always done it on other cars with certainly no detrimental effects, I swear on my Europa the engine space was cooler afterwards based purely subjective assessment.

Does the metal oil cross over tube look correct? Its very close to the headers....

I have one Andy - I will be using it in the next few days but after that you are welcome to borrow it to use and perhaps make a copy of.

Now ready to fit gearbox to motor and then install but still waiting for a couple of new studs from Porsche . Lined up the plate with a standard tool from sealey I think. I've made a little floor trolley on wheels to support the assembly and let the trolley jack underneath as suggested by the good folk of DDK.






Going to need to chase up Chris to borrow a float height gauge and still looking for any old oil pipes.
