I have just received my steel wheels back from the powder coater and are not impressed. There is lots of grit between the outer rim and centre which looks terrible. I have just spent some time raking some of this out which appears to be well forced in there - now obviously the wheels need recoating. I am going to see the blaster/coater next week and wondered if anybody else ( I know KS did ) has had a similar problem and how it was dealt with.
Looks ok at first;

Re: Powder coated steel wheels
I had similar problems when I had a set of steel wheels done - the powder coaters redid them & they were better but not perfect ...

Find a blaster, have them blast the parts. Then get them back, remove all the stuck-in blast media yourself, then take them to someone else who just powder coats things

Good answer – I wish I'd done that... Still, my car's cheap crap anyway
Re: Powder coated steel wheels
I had exactly the same issue when I had mine done through Max at Revival Cars. I never even saw them to be honest, Max simply sent them back and they stripped , cleaned and re-coated them.
It seems like this is standard practice (they're just old wheels might be the attitude.)

I have done a bit of research and I think that I may get them acid stripped then it should be easier to clean out the grit before getting them redone.

Run a thin bead of seam sealer down the gap to fill it?
