Ferry Man’s Pre-Ferry BBQ (CLM - Portsmouth/Caen crossing)

Post by Ferry Man »

In the past, many of us travelling to Classic Le Mans on the Portsmouth-Caen overnight ferry have gathered at my place before setting out.
This year I thought I’d formalise that and host a pre-ferry crossing BBQ.

Therefore you are cordially invited to a DDK gathering at my house for sustenance and to water the horses.
There will be hot dogs, burgers & drinks (no alcohol). Maybe even salad for the girls.

Feel free to turn up any time on the afternoon of Wednesday 4th July and we’ll ready ourselves for the trip to France.
Even those not travelling with us – but local – are also welcome to come by and enjoy the fabulous weather and grub. You can wave us off. :sunny:

Our ferry crossing is at 22.00pm and Brittany Ferries advise checking in at the marshalling yards at least 45 minutes before.
My house is about an hour’s drive from the Portsmouth terminal so I reckon we need to be heading south down the A3 no later than 8.00 p.m. Or earlier if we’ve consumed all the food.
Let’s assume the coals will get lit at about 5.30 p.m. and you’ll be taking your place at the banqueting table 6.00-ish.

If you’re interested in attending kindly PM me and I’ll let you know the address details and instructions how to find the party venue.
It’s Farnham, Surrey, but I’d rather not post too much info online.
Kindly keep this content within the Members Section.
Dress code is CLM casual (but Tom, we’ll ask that you keep your trousers on please).

See you then folks. You’ll even get to meet Stanley. :dog:

See you chez Ferryman - cheers Paul

I promise not to arrive as early as I did last time (it's just me) and I will not require the use of your lounge floor for nappy changing - I'm fully trained these days

Sounds like an excellent idea Paul. we might just make it at the tail end after a day of toiling in the office.

Excellent, we'll see you then.
My employers have kindly released me from my toiling at about 1.00pm so I can Hoover & dust before you arrive.

Hi Paul
I will be delighted to accept your kind invitation on Wednesday
I was just looking at the Isle of Wight festival where my son is currently camping and I am very much hoping that France will have nicer weather.

Paul, I feel like I should detour from my brothers house in Bedford the night before and miss the tour (and my tunnel journey) just for your BBQ :)

Hope the weather behaves itself and I see you all in Sees or Le Mans the following day

Not wrong. Apparently that posse alone is 6 cars!
And they tell me the food on the ferry is pricey so they intend to gorge themselves at the BBQ....

Sadly I won't be able to make this as it sounds like it will be a good get together.

On the plus side I'm heading to France this eve, can't wait...

Enjoy the Image while hopefully I'll be Image and I should bump into a few of you over there.

Cheers
