Olive no more - colour change time

I have searched the world for an original colour olive car for many years and FINALLY found one in Austria just a couple of months ago. Nothing special, a 2.2T but I just wanted olive. However, the premium put on the car for the 'rare colour' was LARGE so I reluctantly had to pass.

I'm one of the 5% , obviously.

Viper or Chartreuse all the way
....or the Aubergine or Gulf Blue
Not silver though about 50% of cars on the road today are some shade of silver. These cars need to look more special than that.
Did love my black one apart from cleaning it, mmmm black and chrome

chartreuse is such a cool colour, however i also love that grey on page one; looks very nice. i always liked helens orange sporto too, but i think brighter shocking colours like a bright orange (i think helens might have been blood orange? ), viper green, etc. look better on wide-body (shocking) cars

i also like this colour, which i think is "dove blue" but not 100% sure (apologies to anyone who's offended by the picture - i believe this bent screen 356 build caused serious controvesy in the states.. i for one LOVE it )

and also the second picture, which i have no idea on the colour.. i just think it looks SO right on older porsches

Ultimately, the person who pays decides, and colours and tastes is something highly personal. Now, I am in the 5% camp and I absolutely love a nice olive coloured 911/912. I am in awe of Mr Pharmastists' targa... Just gorgeous.

Here is perhaps an idea: Perhaps in 2002 Mark Waring rescued and restored this amazing Belgian Carrera RS for a customer. It was originally beige-grey or some such, but the customer ABSOLUTELY wanted gulf blue. He refused but compromised as follows: car restored in the original colour, outside panels in gulf blue similar to what racing stables did for a "sponsorship repaint". Few months later, the customer had to sell....

You could find yourself in a similar conundrum: you have a full colour change to silver. In three years time, you want to have a 997 or a 991 or an Audi S5 or whatever, and you are preparing to sell. The car will compete with a load of other non original 911's. An aficionado comes along and says: I'll have it but to repaint it back to olive. Your price minus £8500. Deal?

And there's the dilemma....

I have see an awful lot of colour change cars. Mostly going back and forth. Had the owners only swapped car, then everyone would have been happy, and the cars would not have had to suffer expensive complete changes. You have quite an audience of potential purchasers wanting an original olive car.

That RS lightweight was light ivory underneath the gulf blue and the owner you refer to was not other than the boyfriend of Ferrari girl Caroline who accompanied us to CLM one year in her red 35..... Something B something Ferrari

I dont actually know if its dove blue or not. I assume its a 356 colour of some sort but the again maybe not. I saw it in Bob Tilton's book where it looks slightly more grey. Lovely looking car built up by Emory motorsports.

Why don't you do it as original in Olive....then if you are still not sure have it wrapped in a different colour...choices are endless then

I remember it well. A young lady in a 'nice' car mingling with DDK members around the camp site - it was like bees around honey!
