I would love a Miura, years ago at a classic car place I worked for we had a non runner turn up for sale, such was my desparation to drive it I worked away on it and got a bunch of things sorted and hey presto got to drive a true dream car, it was one of several owned by the Shar of Iran and in the boot were two licence plates that started TEH for, I guess, Tehran, I may have kept one of the plates, that said if I knew where the car was the owner could have it back..

At the week-end I went to a stately home in north Norfolk (Holkham Hall) and saw this little beauty. Talking to the buy who maintains it, it used to be Tim Birkin's car, and ran a horizontal twin air-cooled engine. After Tim died his mechanic (Pom?) bought it from the estate and converted it to water cooled by making those lovely brass jackets for the cylinders.

It was a lovely thing - with aluminium over wood

Did you mean Tim Birkin? (Sir Henry Birkin)
He was a Norfolk man and is buried in Blakeney Church Yard.
He was the driving force behind the Villiers supercharged 4 1/4 Bentleys.
On the podium of British Heroes as No 2 - along with William Grover as clear winner and Parry Thomas on the 3rd step.
If you haven't got 2nd gear by the time the lights go green, then you've made a bad start.

I went right there^^^ in my freshly restored 911T in 1990 with a bunch of other early 911 people headed by young Mark Waring no less.
There were about 12 early cars there, no RS's all T/E/S Coupes and Targa's.

Anyone here attend that gathering? :)

I'm guessing Jackie Stewart/Elf Tyrell?
I love the smell of burnt rubber and hydrocarbons in the morning, it smells of......victory.
