Classic LeMans, 6th - 8th July 2012 - DDK Camping & ticket

Post by hot66 »

UPDATE :

Right, I have been in discussions with Brian this past week trying to get DDK some special rates on tickets 8) There is a very longwinded reason as to why other Porsche clubs apart from PCF can't get club rates, but the long & short of it is we have found a way to get DDK discounts on the tickets :) In addition, paddock passes are inclusive at these prices

BUT, we are bound by a timescale restriction ! All bookings MUST be placed by Sunday 12th Feb to qualify for the discount. After this date the prices for the camping, tickets & paddocks will increase by approx £21 / pp based on 2 sharing. Please follow the link below to finalise bookings.

DISCOUNTED DDK CAMPING/TICKET/ PADDOCK - TICKETS MUST BE ORDERED BY 12th FEB

http://www.1st-tickets.co.uk/ph/enquiriesddk.html

Brian @1st-tickets wrote: As discussed, the web page is now updated with the prices agreed. These prices are available until Sunday 12th February after this date they will revert to the previous published prices.

At this stage for online bookings, payment will need to be in full, rather than a deposit payment. However, if there are any members that would prefer to pay a 50% deposit now, with the balance payable in April, they will need to contact us direct.

Also, for those members that have already booked, we will reduce their prices to the new rates and re-issue their invoices by email over the next week or so.

If there is anything that we have missed, just let us know and we look forward to receiving bookings from the club members

Kind Regards

Time to get the ball rolling for the 2012 DDK trip to Classic LeMans

http://www.lemansclassic.com/en/s01_hom ... 1_home.php

For those that have not been before, Classic LeMans is one of the 'must-do' Classic Racing Events.

Here is a taster of DDK @ CLM 2010

So , as last year, Brian @ 1st-tickets is helping with the organisation of the DDK Camping , tickets etc .

To enable us to camp together, the camping must be booked, along with entrance tickets, paddock passes etc from 1st-tickets. Club Camping is again on Karting Nord, one of the trackside campsites.

A lot of DDK'ers prefer the Portsmouth - Caen crossing. You can book this via Brian or direct if you wish.

The other popular route is the Dover - Calais, either ferry or tunnel. Again this can be booked via 1st-tickets or direct.

DDK CAMPING

DDK are going to book a large area within the Club Camping campsite of Karting Nord. To get an idea of the number of plots we need you to register with 1st-tickets. Please use the booking form in the link at the bottom of this post.

DDK FERRY , Portsmouth - Caen

1st-tickets can offer this crossing as part of an overall package with the camping, tickets etc. The cost of the Caen Ferry crossing varies depending on availability and demand, but, as agreed, the crossing element of the package to club members will be no more than the public fare.

PLEASE NOTE : Although the costs should be the same, if you prefer, you can book this crossing direct with the ferry operators. Please see this post of Paul's

So, you can book your channel crossings for Classic Le Mans.
No real panic yet but it might be wise to book early if you want to ensure you secure a cabin.
No doubt there are many routes and timings that may suit you but - as a useful insight for any others planning to join the DDK troop - I've picked the schedules below as being best for our needs. I've already booked. See you there. :)

http://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/

Porstmouth–Caen. Wednesday 4th July, 2012. Departure time: 22:00pm (arrive 6.45am, Thursday 5th)
Caen-Portsmouth. Monday 9th July 2012. Departure time: 16:30pm (arrive 21.15pm)

I paid £278 (+£5 credit card booking fee) with a cabin on the outbound crossing, sleeper chair upon return leg.
They only take a £25 deposit at this stage.

DDK TUNNEL / FERRY , Dover - Calais

Popular DDK crossing will be Weds am, returning Mon pm

Well in the belief (hope?) that the Doctor's Car will be finished and up to it I have booked a place in the DDK camp for me and herself (she is keen to attend, although has not yet asked the key "Where are we staying question...?") Fallback is the TR4A, so I hope it will be allowed to park nearby.

Just pre-booked with 1st Tickets (incuding the ferry Portsmouth Caen return Ferry 22.00 Wed out and 16.30 Monday rtn).
I notice on the Brittany Ferry site indicates that the most basic 2 berth internal cabin option for the outward journey has sold out. Are we to assume that Brian has already prebooked cabin places on the ferry ?

Looking forward to go down to LeMans with the rest of the group on the Thursday that we missed out on last year. Sarah and I had an idea to go see the Bayeux tapestry on the way home on the Monday if anyone esle was interested in doing this.

Hey Andrew, I've got a jumper that, after a few beers and through squinted eyes, looks a bit like it I could bring it along? It might be to hot to wear it though

Hi Andrew

I'd assume Brian hasn't pre-booked any cabins as he has no idea how many DDK'ers will be travelling that route.

As always, bet to drop Brian an email .

Absolutely right James. Brain confirmed that until you've paid your deposit nothing is pre-booked. You can of course do the ferry booking direct with Brittany Ferries or through 1st Tickets as part of the package.
All the cheapest 2 berth internal cabins are sold out already for the outward sailing
Porstmouth–Caen. Wednesday 4th July, 2012 22:00pm

If you want to reserve your place then don't delay. External or 4 berth cabins still available which is what I've asked Brain to reserve for us.
Seems ridiculous to be booking a ferry for 8 months time but looks like it is essential. If you are thinking of going then don't delay or the choice could be rather limited.
We've also gone for the 16.30 rtn sailing on Monday 9th.
