To answer you question the shell is rare because it was build in 1965 and can be presented either as a 912 or 911 with the mods i've done.red964 wrote:Nice work. But im a bit confused. You re-steered from an rsr bcos your car was a rare 911. But one of your pics shows 912 engine points modded off. So was it 911?

It's not a specific marine blower but i'm sure it's the type of thing that's used. I got mine from demon tweeks and they call it an in line blower. It works with 3" ducting and you can also get aluminium reducers to get the bore down as low a 2".haasad wrote:Nice work, is that a marine "bilge blower" you have fitted? I'm interested since I will need some capacity to demist in my car and was looking for such a thing.

Thx for your support. I hope to have it ready for next season. It may seem rather far away when looking at the progress so far, but what you can't see are all of the rest of the bodywork painted sitting on the bed in my spare room (wife not overly impressed!) all new glass (except for drop glass) and all new seals for them ready to go in. I don't want to fit any of these until the engine and transmisson are in the car.mdmax72 wrote:Coming along nicely, best way to build a car when your not in a rush. What season are you getting it ready for.??? Just out of intrest how long does it take to get it FIA registered??

Furthermore the car was a 912, but i want to race a 911 in historic races and to do that you must have replica of a the car used in the period i.e. 1965. The running gear ie all suspension, steering, brakes are idential to a 911 and were all on the car when i bought it - so easy. The shell was identical apart from the rear engine mounting points and cutting holes in the rear right inner wing to allow fitting the oil tank - the 912 didn't have one in the wing - also the inner wing was already "pressed" to accept the 911 cut outs. The other difference was to cut the dash for 5 dials instead of three. There is no other difference between the 912 of the time and a 911.
Needless to say it will meet all FIA regulations for a 1965 911 so that's what i'm doing. I appreciate there is an argument that i should have built the race car as a 912, but to be frank i also race a 2005 GT3 cup car and this 2.0l 911 is going to be slow compared to that - the thought of a 4 cyl 912 was never going to do it for me.
