Visit to Chesterton today to take in resent progress. Lots of preparation and fabrication in readiness for the front floor section/tank support area going in early next week.

I’ve included a before and after shot of the area next to the steering support/ inspection window, which I was particularly impressed with

More history received through the post from a gentleman who owned the car for 5 years in 1970, they don’t get any better than this 8)

Some more progress this week with the front tank support and floor area being fitted. Porsche only supply this panel in LHD thus the pedal box area has to be switched to RHD.

Some further updates on bodywork progress from my visit to Chesterton yesterday. Front of the car is pretty much finished and I now have a floor :)

I've also been working on various parts in readiness for the rebuild once the body is completed and painted.

Hi Garry, saw the car on Friday at Chesterton's, it's looking great and coming on well.
I was the guy in the corner with Mark and the Bugatti, didn't like to interrupt. 8)
cheers, Mike.

Hi Mike,

I did see you on Friday and thought I recognized you; we met at the DDK dinner at Christmas. My apologies for not chatting I was in progress mode and dizzy at having a floor at last.

My friend gave me a full rundown on the Bugatti on the way home “very nice” indeed….

Nice to get some big lumps in on the body: fabulous work 8) .

I like the front inner wing repair panels (right at the front): I've made these for a SWB before, but very much on a one-off basis. Effective enough, but a fraction home-grown.

The inner sill area looks to have gone in very well indeed.

Is that a new torsion tube going in? Lots of progress going on. Keep the updates coming.

Good grief!
Some of these cars need some work!

Be great when all finally welded-up.

Pics and updates most interesting!

John,

That torsion tube is indeed going in, if you notice the one fitted to the car has a piece grafted in the centre as a repair.

We conclude this to be a VW :? seemed to have worked OK for a number of years though......

The familiarity between the two is scary
